Directions, founded in 1987, is
an educational resource established for the purpose of training parents,
day care providers, and teachers to understand child behavior, including
misbehavior, and positive approaches for gaining positive results
with children.
Directions assists adults by providing psychologically sound and effective
methods for fostering cooperation, courage, self-reliance, self-discipline,
and a positive self-concept for kids.
Directions is a member of Boise's Child Care Training Network and
the Idaho State Training and Registry System (STARS). All Directions’
courses are approved for both Boise City and Idaho Stars credits,
as well as NNU graduate credit, as appropriate.
Vivian Brault, M.A. |
Directions Founder
Vivian Brault, M.A., has over 25 years experience in the fields
of education and mental health. Formerly Director of the Parent
Education Center at Boise State University, she has also instructed
junior high, senior high, and university students, and counseled
elementary students and parents. She is a member of the North
American Society of Adlerian Psychology, Puget Sound Adlerian
Society, and founding member of the Idaho Society of Individual
Psychology. She has served on National Drug Prevention Programs
and Idaho's Region IV Mental Health Advisory Board. Mrs. Brault
currently conducts classes for NNU Continuing Studies, Boise
Schools Community Education Program, Boise City's Child Care
Training Network, and the Idaho STARS System. |
Author of numerous articles on child behavior
and a 'Tearless' Discipline Guide for preschools, Mrs. Brault promotes
positive parenting and teaching practices by lecturing and conducting
workshops and classes on the topic of child behavior for several hundred
area parents and care providers each year. She provides training for
child care personnel from the 17 YMCA centers in Boise as well as
parenting classes for parents referred by Idaho’s Fourth District
Court - Family Court, under a grant from the Idaho Supreme Court.
A regular columnist for Treasure Valley Family Magazine, her articles
have also been featured in parenting publications in Illinois, Texas,
Tennessee, and California; two articles were recently published by
the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology – Family Division.
A mother of two adult children and grandmother of four - her presentations
are flavored with a sometimes-humorous, always-practical, real-world
approach to the vital topics of parenting and teaching children.
